Ways to Use a GPS while on Travel
One of the most important gadgets to bring on travel is a GPS (Global Positioning System) unit. This electronic device serves as your virtual map in lieu of the traditional paper maps used during the old days. So that you can be guided during your trip, there are basic ways to use your handheld GPS while travelling.
First and foremost, turn on your GPS and wait for a few seconds so that it can acquire the satellites' transmission. Once you have the signal, you can already determine your location. Another thing you need to do is to create a waypoint and scroll through its pages to find the "create waypoint" option. This can provide you with information on your standing point and final stop.
After that, know which direction is north. When you start walking later on, a heading will be displayed that serves as a compass. Now, if you select a route, it automatically calculates the track from your point to the destination. Then, get your map oriented or turned the right way. Figure out again which is north by walking a few steps and turn until you can see 0 or 360 on the heading indicator.
Afterwards, walk straight to the waypoint. If you walk around an obstacle, then you can get off course for a while. However, you do not have to worry since your device will still show you the right way to go, which way to steer and where to get back to your original point. Thus, the convenience of GPS allows you to be guided wherever you want to travel in the world.
